Re: Spare parts stock?

My thought was what you would want duplicates of. I don’t think my local NAPA stocks many AA parts.

Re: Radiator repair and engine cleaning

Snyders has valve springs for $6.25 a set (8). Although I haven’t done it, I don’t see why you couldn’t replace springs without pulling head. Maybe someone with more A experience will chime in.

Re: Radiator repair and engine cleaning

Service bulletin Page 484 for August 1930 shows the change in design of valve springs. Yours looks like the earlier style. New style is a shorter stiffer spring with less coils. Valve springs are relatively inexpensive.

Re: Radiator repair and engine cleaning

I rebuilt mine. Shaft and impeller were done. Snyders has a new traditional one in the catalog for $89.95. About $35 more for new leakless. I would go ahead and replace if it were me unless you can weld up broken corner. It would bother me knowing that was broken. Mine had a 4 blade fan, harder to b...

Re: Radiator repair and engine cleaning

Oil filler pipe is a press in fit. Here is how I removed mine. I made an impact puller from old pipe fittings. Not my idea, someone either here or at Ford Barn shared it. A short pipe nipple big enough to fit around tube is sawn in half lengthwise. A cap with a hole drilled and tapped in the end is ...

Looks better than new! Love seeing these threads. Haven’t gotten to rear axle yet on mine. Working my way back.
This reminds me of 18th century technology for milling forged gun lock tumblers from rough forgings.

Re: December 7th 1941

I have been reading the letters my uncle wrote home from WWII. His plane was shot down over the South Pacific. Pretty tough reading some of the letters. In one letter he spoke about the opportunity to take a job as ground maintenance, a much safer job. His answer was if everyone takes a safe job, ho...

Some day I want a more aggressive tread on rear of my AA. Any one use 750-20 on rear? Would they be too tall? Doesn’t look like a lot of tread pattern choices in 600 or 650-20s.
