Hello modeleh,
The TT express fenders are kind of like motor cycle fenders. They bolt directly to the side of the body and are notched to fit around the center pocket.

Following are pictures of a 1926 TT express and a 1928 AA express.

Hello modeleh, Your 1930 AA with 82-B cab (round style) would have an 89-A express body and single rear wheel only. All express trucks TT and AA came with rear fenders. The AA express had long running boards and aprons and the rear fenders are unique to the AA express, platform, and panel delivery a...

Wayne, FYI The AA131.5 chassis has a tapered frame for all of 1931. And, the corresponding platforms bodies for these frames all had tapered sills. Only the AA157 for 1931 had parallel side frame members and the corresponding platform had parallel sills. The 1932 platform for the BB131.5 chassis had...

I saw a couple of '28-mid '30, 82-A closed cab doors which were repaired by a local hot rod shop. They made patch pieces for the hinge areas and welded the pieces in. The end product look great. I am interested in hearing from Richard how he would go about fixing this area if the door. The hot rod s...

Hello Lowlidx50,
Yes, the front wheels are '29. So, the front end must be '28/'29 which has an A axle. The rear axle is '30/'31 with the '30/'31 wheels. I can't tell if your truck is a '28 or a '29.

The drawing below shows the 88-A platform rear cross members and the dates used.

Hello Lowlidx50, The platform with "Ford Truck" was provided until mid 1928. The '28 AA's had steel spoke wheels (until Feb. 29). The '29 wheels are six hole and the '30/'31 wheels are five hole. I am guessing that the rear axle was changed to a '30/'31 bevel gear axle and thus the 5 spoke...

Araon, The Ford Model AA Truck Club, April 1997 newsletter has a 20 page article covering the 88-A platform including information on the wood sills and floor boards, mounting hardware, and spare wheel carriers. The 88-A was the Ford specified body model number. This body was used from the beginning ...

Hello Alan, When you talk about the bevel gear units, are you talking about the '29 bevel gear axle or the '30/'31 bevel gear axle? And, I would think that there would be more interest in these gears with a better ration than the original high speed. A ratio of 4.11:1 would yield a speed of 54 mph a...

So, what does the "W" mean? And, what are your thoughts regarding the prior conversation on synthetics resulting in leaks around seals. And, what are the names (identifyers) of the synthetics you refer to?

Alan,
The worm is made of steel and is usually not worn. The worm gear is made of bronze and is the gear which wares out.

Someone sent me information on a modern day worm gear lub that was to reduce head. Hopefully, that person will see this discussion and respond.

Hello Alan,
FYI - for the worm drive axle with 5.17 gears, there is an AA-4610-B worm and an AA-4210 worm gear. Ford does not list these parts as a pinion and gear set. As long as you get what you need, the part names don't matter!

Brian, You most likely need to use a press to remove the spring perch. They can be very difficult to remove. I have used a combination of a press and heat to remove spring perches. Reproduction AA spring perches are not available. So, you must find good original AA spring perches or fix the ones you...

Richard,
Anything on the A/AA seems to be possible. But, I would guess that not having a board would have been a mistake. Are you sure that the floor pan is not a replacement? Do you have a picture?

Hello Richard, I am fairly sure that the board can be forced into place after the seat riser is riveted to the floor pan. But I am not sure. So, it might be best to have it so you can test this out before hand. If yes, then I would get primer on the floor pan where the board goes before installation...
