3-speed tranny

My truck is an early '29 with the 3-speed transmission. The third gear is whining at me, and before I tear into it, does anyone know where I can find a good part number listing for the 3-speed transmission, and if anyone sells 'new' 3-speed tranny parts? Nearly everywhere I look is for a 4-speed, or...

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

OK, Tell me where that steering column support comes from? I just found what it might be. There is a bracket that Snyder's sells under A-3520-E. It says "Introduced in 1931 due to the fact that the earlier support that was riveted to the gas tank developed leaks. Can be used on any 1930 to 193...

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

Chris - if you want me to send you the pics, try downloading a program called filephile - I use it to send pictures to family members all the time. Works great. I will send the pics to you that way if you like. - Elfox http://s1132.photobucket.com/albums/m561/elfox1/1929%20Ford%20Model%20AA/ The lin...

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

Glad you appreciate the pics. The gray AA is the only one (besides mine) that I have ever seen, and I wanted to take lots of pics to compare my truck to. I hope that by posting these, other individuals will follow my lead and do the same. Hopefully, we can have a huge visual encylopedia to follow wh...

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

Rosenkranswa - I think you are right. If you look at the gray AA in the pics, you will see that the bed-to-frame bolts were reassembled in the wrong positions, and that some are missing. Obviously, this bed was removed at some time in the distant past, and could be for the reason you mentioned. I li...

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

Unfortunately, the old perches couldn't be saved. I snapped both off trying to get them out. Ended up taking the whole front axle to a machine shop to have the shafts removed.

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

The spring perches shown are the old ones - the place where the shackles go through wore out the perches so badly that I had to replace them. My truck now has the perches for a Model A on it, unfortunately. Once I get the truck to as close to mechanically perfect as possible, my plan is to completel...

Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)

I took the advice given on this website, and created a Photobucket account from which to share pictures. These pics are of my AA grain truck (dark green in color), and another AA that I stumbled upon while out driving yesterday. The gray one is for sale at a place here in Rapid City SD. If anyone is...

Re: Door work

Thanks for the help - I really appreciate it. I also applaud this website for allowing us to share this valuable information. I don't know how I would tackle a project like my truck without it! Neil - you said there are three different sizes of windlacing around the door, and I want to make sure I u...

Door work

I am about to start working on the doors of my AA, but wanted to ask the gurus here some questions first, before I start out on the wrong foot. I know there are window seals at the front, top, and back of the glass, and that there are bumpers at the bottom. Are the seals at the top/back/front of the...

Re: '29 stake bed

Awesome - thanks for all the responses and pictures! :D Now for the tough question, does anyone know where I can find these bolts, and their bottom brackets? Maybe Bert's?

Thanks again,

Re: Number on subframe & tires

While cleaning the subframe on my early 28 closed cab AA, clear as a bell stamped like under the steering column just in front of the seat riser is stamped TC-10-27. Is this the date the cab was assembled. Restoration is coming along, mechanical is complete, working on sheet metal. Back to tires, I...

Re: Number on subframe & tires

Hello lowtide, Looking at Steve Pluckers website regarding assembly plants it was built in Twin Cities MIN, at least thats when the subframe was stamped, I have not come across any numbers for my 29, except for some numbers on the right side of the sub frame that do not match any that I see in the ...
