The seal I am asking about would only be used on the after market open coupling shaft.
There is a mark on the after market yoke from a seal. I assume there was some type of plate
with a seal in it to keep dirt out of the torque tube.

Sorry, what I was asking about was what the seal looks like where the coupling shaft enters

I would say it's after market since it is not in any of the Ford
parts books.

Pat your not a dip stick. I would say the Schild book it wrong because
the Ford parts books and service bulletins call it a Dual High.

Matt, Why do you say that only steel drums are interchangeable front and rear? I have cast drums on my mail truck and the front and rear are the same. Are you thinking of the fronts with the hub and drum cast together? My cast drums have early 40's casting dates on them so I assume they were replace...

never seen a bearing retainer like that one. Looks like stamped steel, the ones I have seen are cast.

The KRW tool is probably for the BB only as the drive shaft is bigger. The BB seal is 2.110 OD as compared to the 1.987 of the AA.

The later heads had the extra hole. See page 382 I think October '29 of the service bulletins.
