Rear fenders
This is probably a dumb question but can pickup rear fenders be used for the AA truck? I think the truck wheels are slightly bigger in diameter but in diameter but wondering if they would still clear the wheels. My truck is a mixture of years so I am more after function than anything. Original rear ...

Re: Assembly order?
Hi, I've just been through this exercise and I mounted the Warford first . That way, you can turn the Warford shaft to get the universal splines to line up on the drive shaft. I supported the Warford with a floor jack. Then the motor and transmission were lift and lined up and as soon as the transmi...

Re: Wanted - 28/29 closed cab subrails etc
Thanks Bob, yes, I may have to go that route. I would prefer original pieces if I could get good ones but I guess everyone has the same corrosion issues!

Wanted - 28/29 closed cab subrails etc
Hi, I'm looking for parts for the sub floor frame for an 82-A cab. I need the left and right sub rails, the forward cross member and the rear cross piece that frames into the bottom of the cab. I probably have the names wrong but picture below shows mine that have rusted away. 20180325_130230e.jpg L...

Re: Power Take Off
Thanks Keith, all good information. Not sure what make my PTO is except that it is not a Warford. The backlash on my gears seems to be minimal - neither sets of gears seem to have much wear so I think it is OK. Pretty steep learning curve going on here!

Re: Power Take Off
Thanks Bob, I knew I was missing something, forgot that the warford has a neutral position!

Re: Power Take Off
Thanks Bob, so the PTO would need to be mounted on the 4 speed transmission and not on the Warford auxiliary for it to work while the truck is stationary? in which case it can only run in one direction - it cannot be reversed - is that correct??

Power Take Off
Hi all, This is probably a dumb question but how do you operate a PTO while the truck is stationary. It wasn't something I had given a lot of thought to, but it seems that the PTO can only operate with the driveshaft and therefore back wheels turning. Did they jack up one wheel to allow it to turn w...

Re: Truck progress photos
Thanks all. The recipe for rust that I use is as follows: Steel has to be thoroughly degreased first. Then spray it with ordinary white vinegar and try and keep it wet for about 30 minutes and then leave to dry in the sun so it warms up. Mix up a solution consisting of the following in a spray bottl...

I originally planned a power take off on the transmission but as I wanted to use it for a winch, I decided to change it to run off the Warford auxiliary transmission so that it could run in both directions. This photo shows it fitted to the 4-speed before it was shifted. 20170904_184426e.jpg My Warf...

I picked up a balanced and reground crankshaft a while back so that allowed me to machine some weight off the flywheel and fit a V8 type clutch. this was all statically balanced on my modified Harbor Freight balancer. 20180107_143219e.jpg 20180121_094130e.jpg 20180121_150754e.jpg I had rebuilt the 4...
