Re: how much air 650 x20 firestone
I looked in the service bulletins and on page 330 it says 75lb front and 85lb
rear. On page 410 45lb front and rear for 6.00X20 and 90lb for 32X6 and
to further confuse things on page 456 minimum pressure 6.00X20 45lb and
32X6 80lb.

Re: try again
Tom,
When you say "tighten up the tops" if you mean make the hole for the stud on
the brake operating lever smaller DON'T. That hole needs to be big or you will
never get the stud to go in.

Re: HAHA part of the club now.
Scott, I looked at my 157" frame and the number is farther back on it than you are looking.
mine is directly in line with the bracket with the two holes in it for mounting the cab and close to the inner edge of the frame rail.

Re: HAHA part of the club now.
I think what somebody did was take the original gear that bolts to the trans output shaft and welded it to a u-joint
and then cut the coupling shaft and welded that to the other end of the u-joint. Looks like you will need a complete
new coupling shaft.

Re: HAHA part of the club now.
Drew, The open coupling shaft I have is totally different than the closed shaft. It has Mechanics 4C wing bearing u-joints and a hollow tube drive shaft. Look at the second picture Scott posted of the drive line. The front u-joint is not a AA, it has needle bearings like the later trucks, looks stra...

Re: HAHA part of the club now.
Scott,
Could you post some pictures of the coupling shaft(the shaft that goes between the transmission and the rear end) and where it connects to the rear end. I have an open coupling shaft but I don't know what they used for a seal.
Thanks Bob

"The BB shoes will not work on the AA, as the anchor and pivot points are different, but the brake linings are interchangeable."
Eric,
The parts book show BB-2019 Shoe (brake) and lining assembly 1928-34.

Re: Newbie here....
Mike, I'm sure that is a 131 1/2" wheelbase truck. The spare tire carrier is for a short wheelbase, the Warford is next to the cross member like a short wheelbase, and I measured the distance from the rear running board bracket to the start of the rear spring on my long wheelbase chassis and it...

Re: 31 AA chassis questions
The late '31 131" frame does not taper at the rear.
I think what Shelby is looking at are whats left of the spare
tire carrier. You can see the bracket on the right side.

Re: x-shaft brake lever pins 5/16?
Russ,
AA-2496-D, changed to BB-2496, is the brake cross shaft lever to front brake. The Dec. '32 parts book shows the pin as 72276-S8 5/16" X 1 1/4" groove pin--galvanized. The June '37 parts book shows the pin as 352581-S7 5/16" X 1 13/32" special flat head pin.

Re: shackle bolt vs. spring eye bolt
Russ,
The AA5780A number is from a 1937 parts book. I looked
in a 1932 parts book and it shows A-2130 so I would assume
they are the same bolt.
