Rivets and riveting

I'm getting close to being ready to reassemble my cab. I will have to rivet the floor pan. seat frame, back of cab, cowl panels, maybe the cowl posts and firewall. I have heard of cold and hot riveting. Is there a correct way to go about this.? It seems to me hot riveting would be better and not too...

I need a new floor pan and seat riser for my 29 style cab. I see several venders have them and the prices all seem close. Brattons catalog says for the seat pan (not die formed but good).
