Re: Starting engine

This B engine came out of a nice original barn find 32 roadster having 30,000 original miles that some idiot with lots of money and no cents paid a hot rod shop to install a 350/350 in it. It was repaired when it was fairly new on #2 and #3 exhaust ports. The pistons are standard originals.Steve.

Re: Starting engine

No more "B"ees for Me's. Better to fit a B crank into an A block and plumb the oil system. I bought some wheels from someone in Bakersfield and he had three B engines for sale (3 years ago). I took the heads off to look for cracks and every one had them. He said that he routinely stick wel...

Re: Starting engine

Hi Dan Chalmers, This is a B engine with a crank having the shrunk and pinned counter weights usually found in truck engines. Ford cheap Charlied the B engines, casting them with thinner decks and thinner water jacket to valve port walls. I also think that he used impure cast iron. Most of these eng...

Re: Starting engine

The inboard carb is a primary carb, the outboard carb is a secondary carb that kicks in only when the primary is 1/2 throttle. There is lost motion built into the secondary linkage. The secondary throttle leverage is twice as fast as the primary carb so they become fully open together. The secondary...

Re: Wanted: AA Radiator Shell

Hi Paul, Several years ago I bought a AA radiator from BrassWorks in CA. I talked directly to a salesman there, and they are nice people, willing to work with you. Tell them what you have and need and they can make you up a heavy duty radiator for your car shell. If you buy it directly from them you...

Re: wheels: welding stock budd centers onto modern semi whee

Hi, as they say, there are many ways to skin a cat. Dodge Power wagons have the same small Budd bolt pattern as AA trucks. Many old timer Dodgers have taken the AA wheels and put 7.50s on them and bolt them to the axles. I decided to cut out the 9" diameter or so center part of a military rim w...

Re: dual high rear ring bracket

Hi Dave, I bought the already chopped doodlebug chassis for $200 and then made a "truck" out of it with old rusty, trashed parts. Notice the holes in the door and lower cowl. The pillars had the tops cut off, and the stanchions had the bottoms cut off, so I made a transition piece. The w/s...

"pictures" express truck

Hi, I know that I am doing something wrong when the replies to the posting of the picture of my truck recreated the same picture with each reply. What am I doing wrong? As far as the truck itself, I may get scorned for putting it together the way I did. The wheels are funny looking because they are ...

dual high ring bracket for this truck

If anybody is interested in "transformed" AAs this is what I will use the dual high trans bracket for. It is a cut down 31 AA. I have been adding stuff; 31 fenders, 28 cab, 1920s Manley Crane, gin pole up front, Dodge M-37 fenders on the rear, cut down 29 rims from WWII on the front, 9.00 ...

Re: dual high rear ring bracket

Hi Dave in Quincy, I am in Grass Valley. Computers are frustrating for me. I saw your email to me once, but could not find it again. I figured out how to post pictures though, thanks for offering to help me. I will post a picture of the dual high ring bracket with this message. Steve.

Re: Wanted: AA Radiator Shell

Hi Bob, I do not have the 31 PU together yet, although I have nearly all of the parts. I have two banged up A commercial shells and lots of A radiators, and I have two AA shells but no more AA radiators. If I find an AA radiator I will use it on the small PU. If I find a nice A commercial shell I wi...

Re: Starting engine

Hi, I just finished working on a local Model A member's coupe with a Weber set up. The problem was that the needle valve for the float bowl was not fully seating and the carb would flood a LOT of fuel into the intake manifold with the engine not running. I burnished the needle into to seat and then ...

I am experimenting with placing pictures on the site. I have a Kodak camera and program on the computer. There is an E-mail option on the picture program, so If you see a picture of one of my trucks then it works!
