Re: 4 sale Spring perches, Shackles, King pin bolts

I am currently replacing my front axle due to a badly worn king pin hole on the right side and alignment problems on the left, with one that I have rebuilt with replacement spindles, new pins and bushings, correct spring perches, and steering arms. At sometime in her life she had taken a good whack...

and some pic of the ujoint Hello 31 SWFL, Do you have the part number for this U-joint.?, I have had interest in this for some time, I have had luck finding complete AA u-joints and helping others with this problem, there were many changes and updates in the early years, as Keith says the crosses s...

Re: AA Overdrive?

Its my understanding that Mitchell may have one coming for the worm drive axles, it really is only a matter of adapting the torque tube and shaft which is different than the bevel axle, all would depend on demand for them, the Mitchell company are very busy keeping up with orders for there excellent...

Re: 1930's metalurgy

When you say a heavier engine how much heavier?, considering the model A engine and trans is 475# with a 3 speed,--- the 4 speed is much heavier --- the rated payload being 1.5 tons I don't think I would be to concerned about the front spring or steering as long as they were restored properly. Welco...

Thanks Neil. Are these being reproduced or do you know where one would find one? ron Hello Ron, Not sure whether you have seen this but saw this handle on E-bay, has a few pieces missing but may have promise. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MODEL-A-FORD-SEDAN-DELIVERY-HANDLE-1928-1929-1931-CUSTOM-LEAD-Rat-...

Re: rear end rebuild

Hello Steve,
Do you have a copy of the service bulletins, there is a step by step section on the bevel gear axle, I recommend this book for many questions you may have in the future, the vendors have it, get the soft bound green book, and welcome to the forums.

Re: Seat springs

If someone has the correct lower seat cushion for the 82a I would like to know the distance from the front edge to the rear, and the height from the bottom to the top.
Thanks in advance Brian T.

Re: What to do Next

John, A couple of thoughts before you take the engine apart, is the engine oil fresh and not to thin?, it seems odd that the compression at 40 psi and even on all cylinder runs and starts OK, you did not mention if there was any change in compression when retesting with the oil in the cylinders. Did...

Chris,
So what would one look for as far as differences between early and late 30 frames, is there a chassis break frame # that may help?

Re: What to do Next

Hello JPP, You didn't say our much oil you used in that time, if adding oil to a cylinder didn't change the reading it generally indicates leaky valves, I would try with another compression gauge before deciding a course of action, worn valve guides are a possible cause but often cause intermittent ...

Re: pressure plate and disc

From your description it seems that the disc is to thin, or the flywheel surface as been cut without removing the same amount from the pressure plate mounting surface (the depth should be 1.123") , the latter seems unlikely as you have close to the same result with the other flywheels you tried...
