Re: Looking for some advice on AA trucks

Hi there, I’ve read your posts and it kinda sounds like you have a good idea of the “style” of pickup you want, as mentioned above, these trucks were work trucks, so as such, they were worked like dirt mules until they were wore right out- Spring bushings, king pins, steering. So when folks say they...

Re: Canadian Timken differential

Pinion gear has 5 teeth, ring gear has 31 on the BC diff, part number on the pinion is 33589, and 33838 on the ring gear https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180209/f388d96535803f0bb8bfb36a225259f6.jpg The gear set out of the truck as well as the parts truck both are 5-34 ratio and part number H1062 o...

Re: Canadian Timken differential

Since they had an open driveshaft how were they connected to the frame? just the leaf springs like modern trucks? I see a pretty stout bar that has been torched off in your pic... I am pretty sure it connects the same way any other AA diff did, two 1” pins through the back of each leaf spring to th...

Canadian Timken differential

Hi guys, I’ve been getting some work done to the AA since it went sub zero here the last few months, rebuilding the front and rear suspension and the steering but I finally tracked down a diff for my AA out in Dawson Creek BC, so I made the trip last weekend (1700 km one way) as well as a proper cab...

3/8 rivets

I have a box of 3/8 by 1” rivets, these are used to rivet the rear suspension brackets to the frame. If anyone needs some, I’d like $4 CAD plus shipping for 12 , I have enough to make around 4 packs of a dozen each , thanks. Pm me your address and email info if you’re interested, thanks

Re: Front radius rods question

While mixing and matching front end parts you should be aware that there are a number of different spindles, bearings, and hubs for these 28 & 29 trucks. If I remember correctly, my Oct 28 had some of these parts on it that the Service Bulletins said should be replaced (free) at the next dealer...

Re: Front radius rods question

I took apart my parts truck front end, salvaged the front spindles and wish bone I need, but it’s axel is bent worse than the original so I’ll see what I can do with it in the press in the next few days, I straightened my other A’s axel easily so I’ll try this one. Then to rebuild the radius ball, s...

Thanks for the offer, but I should have a spare in the back, I’ll let you know if I need one. Thanks again, Merry Christmas!

Re: Front radius rods question

Ouch. Yes I believe that they are the same. With damage like that I would be looking really hard at the axle to make sure it is straight. The axels bent beyond repair, and the spring perches are wore out, I am at the point of just getting the whole axel assembly off my parts truck and starting to r...

Front radius rods question

There’s no difference in the 1928 AA radius rods or front axel between an A and an AA right? Just the spindles are different between the two models. And next question, tho I’m pretty sure i know the answer, the radius rods are supposed to be straight , not bent https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171...

Canadian AA fire truck

Just posting some pics of a nice Canadian AA fire truck at the train museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, my kids were too interested in the trains to worry about an old fire truck [emoji849] but I grabbed some pics and thought I'd share https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170809/1e359078e1688138fac471ee995...

Re: Newbie AA

it's a 30-31 worm drive. '30/'31 used the Split Case Timken. Not a Worm Drive.[/quote Sorry, it's the first one I've seen, I saw the split case but thought the configuration looked like a worm drive, I identified the truck as a 30-31 by the fenders, wheels etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
