Re: Newbie AA
Finally got around to checking out that diff (that was in a snow drift) last week, ends up it's a 30-31 worm drive. There's a timken diff/frame in the swap n shop area here now I called about but for what the gents asking for the whole frame/tranys/ diff plus shipping I can get a new pinion gear and...

Re: 1/2 inch shaft starter
Is it the whole drive or just the spring, if it's the spring, one from a T works

Re: Body blocks
I treated mine with black deck stain to help keep the bugs/rot at bay longer before I installed them in my A car. I thought it couldn't hurt

Re: Front End Rebuild
Just wondering what you guys recommend for for steering arm nut torque? I was thinking 120 ft/lbs and then a little more to get the cotter pin to line up. Thanks for any help. Chris I'm not sure the exact size of the steering arm nut, but there's a torque chart on his website that should help, just...

Re: Newbie AA
Just an update. I was able to get all the original timken bearings, half through eBay and the rest through my local bearing supplier (eBay ones including shipping were just cheaper, all were readily available). The rear axel seals ended up being a regular 55 mm by 85 mm seal except the outer diamete...

Did you post it over on the Ford barn? If you were closer I'd come pick it up with bells on! Turlock swap meets on soon if you could drag it there and throw a sign on it.

Re: Newbie AA
Well did they give you the modern day replacement numbers? If so take them and search around. I got all 4 of my parts off ebay NOS make an offer deal. Boxes were a bit beat up from being in a drawer somewhere but numbers matched and factory wrapped in oil/cosmoline. That's my plan boss [emoji41], p...

Re: Newbie AA
Got the race off this morning, there's no number on it, shaft is 3/4", a little heat and love got it off. I can get all the bearings but they run about $800 (without the Hyatt) , not a big deal, just the cheapskate in me complaining, I've got another place pricing them too. Sent from my iPhone ...

Re: Newbie AA
The other pinion race is the same measurement but the bearing is held on in a way I've not encountered. That explains the "exploded look" of the other one. The race was pushed on, followed by a malleable ring then the whole thing was mushroomed together http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...

Re: Newbie AA
I'm not sure about the 404 bearing. Are there any numbers on the inner race, or maybe the OD, ID and width of it. I'm wondering if this is the same as the parts used on the USA 1930-31 Timken rear end. Bob Hi Bob, I am a little hesitant to remove the inner race , there are no numbers I can see from...

Re: Newbie AA
What is the number of the outer race in your picture? In your post on Ford Barn you said OR406 but it looks like a 3 instead of a 4 in your picture. If it is OR305 that Is Ford # AA4628 look on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/NDH-New-Departure-Roller-Bearing-Sleeve-OR305-120346-New-/231522869348?hash=...

Re: Newbie AA
Thanks stakebed, I have a local bearing dealer sourcing the tapered bearings, they look like an easy (tho enough $) fix. Berts and Snyders don't know much about this one. Neither does George Moir's. Bob, yes, the Hyatt is a 9 roller with the ring being the dimensions (or darn close) to those you sta...

Re: Newbie AA
Hi guys, I'm starting to figure out the diff. A couple questions, does anyone know if there's a ring and pinion assembly available for this application? I've got two sets but one has broke teeth and the other (tho usable) is getting enough wear on the drive side. The ring gear measure 11 1/2" a...
