Re: Draining Coolant
Nothing to do with coolant. I noticed on your pic. the number on the engine is 'highlighted' with white paint. While the cab is off, could you do the same with the number on the frame and post a picture of it, Please. Some say the number is under the cab once it is mounted. On my '28 it is just in f...

Re: Drive shaft housing gaskets
The gasket I'm looking for is the 4516. And by the way, thanks for all the replays and photos. I bought a gasket set from Snyder and haven't checked it yet. It has long cork strips. Hopefully they are the correct gaskets. Where can you get the felt material? Sorry for the delay answering all your p...

Re: Draining Coolant
So there you go!! Stick with a 50/50 mix. and one bottle of water wetter, and your all set for any weather. Boiling point is way up there... I've run it for years with no issues.Chris Haynes wrote: ↑December 11th, 2020, 11:46 pmEvans doesn't recommend using their coolant on systems that are not sealed.

Re: Draining Coolant
Thanks KVO. The Judging Standards, as Neil reminded me of, state hoses are Red or Black with a Red stripe so I am going to keep the red (adds some contrast!). I had tried the shop vacuum on the lower and at the same time compressed air in the top and no water came out. It might be dry since it has ...

Evans Prep Fluid is a waterless cooling system flush engineered specifically to purge the cooling system of water-based antifreeze after draining and before installing new waterless coolant. Prep Fluid should be used when block drains are unavailable or cannot be removed. It is not a substitute for ...

Re: Draining Coolant
Here is what i would do. Take the hoses off and hook a shop Vac on the bottom one and let it run for a long time. This would force air through and there for dry it out. You could even put a hair dryer in the top so warm air is drawn through. Drying it out faster. How to know when it is totally dry??...

Re: Draining Coolant
Thank you. My engine is just rebuilt, but test run for a couple of hours with water. The Evans antifreeze I am going to use is a "waterless coolant". It has better heat transfer and no corrosion. I just need to make sure all the water is out before I put this product in. https://www.evans...

Re: Draining Coolant
That should do it. If your going to add antifreeze , you can test the antifreeze afterward to be sure you got the correct ratio.. But!! take the oppertunity to flush the system out really good. Fill, run, drain, repeat. May as well get it as clean as possible now..

For ref. I understand the cab is the same as the AA. So maybe you can find info on A's that will apply. Also, road trip!!!! take a ride to the Gilmore Museum near Kalamazoo Mi. Take your camera, and ask a lot of questions. They have at least one AA and more A's on hand. Also Serial # 1 on hand...

Re: Drive shaft housing gaskets
you know, This is no magic, it is just a gasket. If you get in a bind, and or feel ambitious, make your own.. A couple layers of paper board works great. The back of a notepad works. Seal it all up and layer it together with permatex sealant.
