Re: Drive shaft housing gaskets

Thanks, yeah, I bought that by mistake, it probably is a A part. The felt gasket will work in the bell shaped parts that that the intermediate shaft housing slips into.

I did find the correct gaskets at Snyder’s today. I hope!

Re: Drive shaft housing gaskets

Thanks to both replays
I thought I was getting the cork gaskets from Snyder, they sent the felt gaskets that I also need. They go on parts on each end of u joint. I'll try Sammy.

Re: U joint

Bob,
You are correct. I Had just sort of eye balled them. The bushings are about .030 on the OD. Thanks for taking the time to mention that. Any suggestions on replacement.

Re: U joint

Bob C thanks for the 7084 number. This kit is rebuild kit 28-48 part #64-24277/7084
It’s the correct part. It’s a different configuration than the stock. The center of the spider is round rather than square.

Thanks, I think I got led astray on their chat line
I must have got the wrong one. I hope I can return it.

I also need the gasket material for that bell type housing that attaches to the drive shaft housing. Any idea?

Re: Re installing complete drive line 157" WB

Thanks Neil. I think I’ve got it, maybe! I haven’t decided whether to pull the engine apart, so I’m thinking start assembling from the rear first basically to keep myself motivated. I’ve got the engine on a stand, with everything pulled off but pan and head. I know it’s the time to do it, I just am ...

Thanks for the replies and info, and photo. Much needed. Do I understand, I need to connect the intermediate shaft to the rear drive shaft and then bolt to frame. I haven't, looked at the middle shaft, I'm going to do that to day to refamilarize myself with that .

Re installing complete drive line 157" WB

I'm back to putting this truck together and need some advice. I'm thinking I should install the rear end section first, then the intermediate drive line. Then transmission, then engine. Please advise with any advice/ info. Thanks!

Direction of springs

Which direction do the grease fittings point on the rear springs, to the rear or front. And I'm supposing the zirk fittings on the shackles and axle clamps are in the rear.
Who carries bushings.
Thanks for any info.
