Sounds like the clutch disc center broke free. Does the engine turn over when you push the truck back and forth while in gear?JPP wrote:

Re: Just minding my own business then................
Ok well the speedometer does not move when in gear and engine reeving. So we can discount the rear? I should mention that when I towed it home and parked it outside the barn. Then with the engine on it wouldn't go into gear. So i shut off engine put it in gear and backed it into the barn. Since the...

Re: Closed cab hinges
Ford used two types of hinges, pretty much randomly, on the 1928-29 pickups and trucks. Theses were a carryover from 1926-27 (though the upper hinge may have been bent differently in the steel 1927), and also a carryover design from 1924-25. The type you have is stamped one piece for the body (with...

Re: Head gasket leak
USE MOTOR OIL ONLY After at least a thousand different engine builds in my shop, as a certified machinist, I have to disagree with Shelby. I have never before heard this recommendation, although it may work in some situations, you should always follow the prescribed techniques for each Gasket appli...

Re: Brake grease
I don't beleive I would use brake grease on the wheel bearings. Brake grease is for lubracating disc brake pistons. I don't think any AAs that had disc brakes from factory. I think I would use a molly grease to lube the wheel bearing if I had a problem with grease harding. Shelby, Sacramento Shelby...

Re: Original Shocks
Had the original shocks from my AA rebuilt and installed back on the truck. They were found in the parts box after I purchased my truck. The original shock links were there as well. I took them apart and cleaned all the old grease out, re-greased and assembled them. The shocks make a big difference...

Got the halves together yesterday (whew!), didnt have alot of time tonight to play with it but got the rear cap on but have some questions: I know the 4 bolts that hold it on have holes drilled in the heads for safety wire. Anyone have an idea of how it looked as in correct way to wire these? Do al...

Take your "timken" replacement bearing numbers and ask Timkens service Tech's what the clearance should be. My guess is zero. Just like front spindle bearings. Just my thouhgts... KVO Kim, most if not all Tapered roller bearings have pre-load to eliminate radial and axial play. Not as cri...

Re: '28 rear diff.
I'm looking for a '28 worm rear end. Single break type, Emergency break. Low speed is good. I don't need break parts or break backing plates, no hubs, breack drums. I'm planning on building up a seperate assembly then, switching out what I have for the new one. Just an experiment. KVO What is a sin...
