Hmm i count like 15 on drivers side and 14 on passenger side (not counting bottom spring where the axle would mount to) yet the u bolts that hold em together are the same height...(maybe i miscounted since i counted from my own pics. My June 29 has 18 per spring pack... not sure how that compares to stock. I removed my cross shaft by removing one of the levers on the end, I think I took the passenger side off. Its riveted on and a pain! yea that's what i saw to is a few rivets in them and was hesitant on doing anything drastic....

odd cobbled thing...

but yea ill have to check my 2 u joints when i get a chance if noone helps you out before hand... i have a 29 with a 3 speed and dual high. From what i remember one of them is in fact from a model A but the other may be AA only...

Yea, ive got a buncha catalogs and they list some books. Didnt know if anyone knew of a must have type of book for the AA. I have the Model A ford Mechanics Handbook and that covers alot of the model A stuff but has nothing on the AA parts that are different from a standard A. Right now focusing on ...

Do you soak the parts in it? Does the solvent get it gooey or does it dissolve the mess pretty well?

I can probably get enough crud scraped off to get the backing plates off and then get a shallow pan (or a cut down round trashcan) to soak these in...

hmm strange, most states i thought however the vehicle left the factory when it was made is all you need to be legal... did you get pulled over or did you just read what the law states? finding some if you have some kind of farm store (farm and fleet, ranch king, big R) they usually have plain black...

thier not too bad, 3 of us lifted the bed with partial top boards and the bottom boards still attached. Carried it maybe 75 feet without too much of a problem. with no wood their much lighter

Well all of my metal strips that hold the boards down have rusted/broken/chunks missing. I know these arent reproduced and entirely different from the A pickup bed strips. What have you guys used instead? some 1.5" wide 1/8" thick flat steel with drilled holes? I'm not building a show truc...
