Brake Part interchange?

What, if any, Model A brake parts fit on the 30-31 AA brake system. Are there any common parts like rollers, springs, widgets, ect?

Re: Hub Puller Reply

Here is a picture of DYoung's puller in action. He was kind enough to let me borrow it for my hubs. I was able to pull all 8 hubs off of the frames I have. Luckly, I don't live that far from him. It is very heavy so shipping would have been out of the question. A few pointers: - loosen the axle nut ...

503 area code is Oregon. Unfortunately for me, that is on the left side of the country.

Re: hope someone remembers

The coffee can in the first picture goes under the transmission/ clutch area. A little kitty litter in the bottom of the can will help soak up the oil.

Re: what do you use your for.

I currently use my AA's to store all my iron oxide. I retire in 8 weeks so I will start to use my AA's for better purposes.

Re: AA

The first picture looks interesting. I would not restore a truck like that. I would keep it as is except for the mechanical stuff. It is in great original looking condition. The truck has a 28-early 30 body, 30-31 headlights, 30-31 wheels, and (correct me if I am wrong) 28-early 30 radiator cap and ...

Re: King pins

I would start by measuring both pins top and bottom. They may be slightly different from one another. That would give you an idea of where abouts it should be. My guess is the bushing gets reamed .001-.002 larger than the pin. I am not a machinist so I suggest you get with someone more expertified. ...

Veeder Cyclometer?

I have seen a few of these Veeder Cyclometers pop up on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170294818171&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem= Do they go on the AA trucks? How do they mount? What turns the small lever on the inside? Any other info on thes...

Bumper bolts?

Where can I get the correct carrage bolts that mount the 1931 (single bar) bumper to the bumper brackets? Also where can I get the correct nuts and bolts (4) that secure the bumper brackets to the frame.

Thanks,
John

Re: Need for Speed

Would it be possible to just replace the ring and pinion in the rear end with a different ratio? It seems that it would be cheaper to replace those parts rather than a whole transmission.

Rebuilding brake shoes?

Maybe I asked this question already, but I don't see it in the archives. I will be rebuilding my brake shoes soon (30-31). Several vendors sell woven and molded brake linnings. One vendor also has linnings already bonded to the brake shoes. Is any one way better than the other? I know Henry used wov...
