Re: what lubricates roller bearings in AA drive shaft, outer shaft hot to touch
Heres what gave me fit when trying to install the torque tube which is similar to what you worked on. I had to replace the seal which means I had to remove the needle bearing and the race, it was hard to get the race in the perfect place, the bearing would go in but not all the way, it looked OK but...

Re: How wide between running board outer edges?
I have 29 aa bare frame, just sandblasted and painted, my running boards are 70" long, I sat them on the brackets and lined up the holes, at the front where the fenders bolt on it's 66 1/2" to the outside, the catalogue state that a 29 aa R B should be 35 1/2" long, so I measured back...

Re: what lubricates roller bearings in AA drive shaft, outer shaft hot to touch
I have my 29 rear axle completely disassembled, sandblasted and reassembled, reinstalling the torque was very difficult. My question is, did you remove the torque tube?

Don't know if this will help, on the 29 AA flat bed, the strips that are 8' long measured with micrometer are .090 thick which is 13 ga in my steel handbook.

Re: Wood hydraulic hoist pump
If the hydraulics have not been in use for a long time, I would remove it and soak it in diesel. The diesel fuel is too thin to test for pressure. If you remove the cylinder and take it apart, you may be surprised how much sludge is in it. If it has a reservoir, clean it out, look for a filter or sc...

Re: Wood hydraulic hoist pump
I've worked on a lot of equipment with hyd systems. If your pump has been out of use for many years, you might soak it in a bucket of diesel fuel for a few days, I made an adapter that goes from a 1/2" drill chuck to the pump shaft, the pump will turn clockwise, then you will know which side is...

Re: Breaks 'arched'
Another way is to go to the auto body supply and buy a couple pieces of air file sand paper, it is 2 3/4" wide x 17 1/2" long, get the one with glue on the back, peal and stick to inside of drum and turn, I would use 80 grit. or you might move the drum- hub out with an axle shim.

Re: torque grease seal
Great reply, I had a 5' piece of 3/4 pipe but no reducer, so I used a thick flat washer 1/4" x 1.750" od, the seal and the race came right out, it was easy.

Re: 28 AA brake adjust advice
Recently I completely dismantled a 29 AA differential, starting with the hubs and all the brake parts. When I got to the 2 cams, they were completely froze solid inside the camshaft along with the 2 spring behind them. The cams are supposed to float inside the camshaft and find the drum. hope this m...

On the 29 torque tube in back of the drive shaft bearing, there is a grease seal, I would like to replace it. does it come out the back? If it comes out the front, how do I remove the bearing race? On the outside of the torque tube there's something that looks like a freeze plug, does that have anyt...
