Re: AA Bumpers

Hello Arche22772, Given that your truck is not restored, then it is likely that it came with the AA double bar bumper (just a guess). If you are not a Ford Model AA Truck Club member, then you have not seen the 2008 newsletter which has an article covering the 185-A, 1930, AA157 platform body. It is...

Re: seek help in finding a new engine, BVFF PORTUGAL !

FYI - The engine in an AA Ford is the same engine used in the A Ford. It could be that a running engine could be found in your area or England, Finland, Scotland, etc. for a small price (as compared to a new rebuilt engine). The cost of shipping an engine from the US to Portugal would be considerable.

Re: AA Bumpers

Page E-20 of the Judging Standards has drawings of the two AA front bumpers which started in mid to late 1930. The double bar bumper was chrome plated, optional, and available through October per the information. It is entirely different (both bumper and brackets) from the A front bumper as can be s...

Re: Need help with AA standrive I.D. parts

Is there any chance that you would make copies of what you got for me (and hopefully inclued the identification of where they are at in the archive? If I do an article on the standrive someday, I will want to order some of the information to include in the article.

Re: Need help with AA standrive I.D. parts

My understanding is that the standrive came with the right fender wheel carrier (like the postal AA chassis). But, I have seen pictures where the carrier is on the left and I am guessing that was only at the start of production. The attached picture was taken 8-31 and the right spare tire can be seen.

Re: Need help with AA standrive I.D. parts

Yes on the right side spare wheel bracket (tapered hole). It would be of interest to know if the bracket is attached to the frame with bolts or rivets. Except for early versions, the standrive came with the wheel carrier on the right. There should be a welled right fender also.

I searched Ebay using "Weaver" and didn't find the crane. Do you have the Ebay number or some of the words in the title?

Re: New AA finds

Regarding the single A stamping for AA's in 1928: For a three month period starting mid February 1928 (with engine number A-26268) through mid May 1928 (with engine number 136,000 approximately) the AA truck clutch spring was the same as the Model A. During this period the engine number had the “A” ...

Re: 1929 AA steel bed strips

Hello s147881,
Tell us more about the skid strips which you had made please. Are the new strips the same profile and metal thickness as the original. And is your truck a 1928 to 1930?

Re: frame Welt installation for flatbed truck

The frame welt is an anti-squeak between the frame and fenders/aprons. It terminates where the apron leaves the frame. Note in the picture that I put frame welt on the body bracket to insure the bracket is level with the frame. I also put the weld on the hood clip bracket. The cargo body does not ha...

Re: Weaver Auto Crane

Does the crane have the original snatch block and hand crank? Is it designed for chain or cable (cable set up has larger diameter sheve wheels). The picture below shows the snatch block for the chain setup. Did the original hardware (bolts/nuts) get saved. All of these parts are square head bolts an...

Re: 28/29 Style Cab on 1930 assembly questions.

1) Does the bead welting go in one continuous section from the lower cowl panel over the gas tank to the other lower cowl panel? Answer - Yes 2) The original wood roof was completely gone when I got the truck. I am preparing to install new wood. The back of the cab at the top has a rod that connects...

Re: 30 stake fenders

Since you have an early '30 truck then it will have an 82-A cab. Ford continued to use the '28/'29 cab and related sheet metal (i.e. front fenders) until about May/June of 1930. The 82-B cab was then put into production after May/June and the front fenders were changed to the '30/'31 style. So, why ...

Re: 30 stake fenders

Yes, all A and AA front fenders are the same with the exception of the 1931 AA front fenders with a wheel well (larger wheel well for the AA tire).

The cab and hood are the same for the A and AA also.

Re: 30 stake fenders

The 1930 front fenders are the same for both the A and AA. Through May/June 1930, the 1929 style fenders were used. The mid 1929 to end of production platform/stake AA's did not have rear fenders.
