My understanding is that the woven lines should be used with the steel brake drums.

Re: 1930 Model AA- Shorten Has anyone done it?

The coupling shaft without a u-joint at the transmission is original. In mid '32 Ford released a service coupling shaft which has a u-joint at the transmission. It allowed the coupling shaft to be removed without backing out the rear axle.

Tonie, The '28 through mid '30 A commercial running board is longer than the short or long '28 through mid '30 AA running board. A picture is attached of the '29 through mid '30 AA boards. Note the bracket at the rear (top of picture). The short AA aprons are shorter than the A aprons. Note that the...

Re: Powder coating wheels on '29 AA

Hello Drew,
The A and AA wheels were originally dipped in black enamal (like the fender, aprons, boards, etc.). This resulted in a high gloss.

I have a set of '28 steel spoke wheels which were rust pit free and they came out nice in high gloss power coating.

Tony, The TT, AA, and '32-'33 removable wheel flange will all work on the '29 AA wheels. There are differences in the tool notch location and shape during these years (see Judging Standards). There is a lock ring currently on Ebay 200270273562 with over 1 day left. The current 1 bid is $50.00. Per t...

Re: Question for experts

Tony, If you can reporduce them exactly as original and be able to sell them for under $40, then I think there would be a market for them. You probably would need to contact some of the major vendors (Snyder's, Bratton's, Bert's, etc.) to see if they would carry your parts and what they think on pri...

Re: Speedometer cable

Hello Robert, Reproduction casings and shafts are not the same length as original. They are longer than original. So, they should work. The lengths shown below, on the right, are from the 1940 Ford Chassis Parts Catalog. AA-17261-AR – Casing (1928-30) 81” AA-17261-C – Casing – AA131 (1930-31) 81.5” ...

Re: Grease fittings and tail pipe routing

Hello Robert, Attached are some pictures showing the 1931 AA157 tail pipe and brackets. The '31 AA157 uses an AA muffler (an A mufler without the tail pipe). The tail pipe is a straight pipe an uses two muffler tail pipe clamps (unique to the AA157). Regarding grease fittings. I got some fittings se...

Re: 28 Truck coupling shaft help please

Matt,
How about a couple of pictures to help explain what you are referencing. US 1928 AA's had worm drive rear axles. The coupling shaft has a u-joint on both the front and rear. The rear u-joint fits into the drive shaft.

The '28/'29/'30 and/or '30/'31 cowls are the same for the A and/or AA. The '30/'31 commercial A/AA's have a steel painted cowl band.
