Re: AA Snowmobile, 12 Volts?

The starter should be okay. It turns very aggressively with the 12 volts. I converted a '29 pickup years ago and the starter worked well. I replaced the coil and light bulbs. I installed an alternator. I had to put a resister in line for the horn as it does not sound like an A horn with 12 volts. So...

Re: My new AA

Hello Roy. FYI - Engine AA4079194 is early Nov 1930. So, it could have been put into a January or February 1931. The right front wheel is the 31/33 style and I have seen this style wheel with a 2-31 date. You could check the dates on the outside wheels without removing. The platform is the 88-A whic...

Re: Need Radiator Shell

Hello Sunny, The standard 30/31 radiator shell was steel and painted black (no plated version sold by Ford). There was an AA stainless steel shell released which was standard on some AA's (like the Ambulance). I have a steel AA shell to sell for $45 plus shipping. It is not junk but it is not excell...

Re: upper radiator hose

FYI - The 187-A platform would have the 189-A stake racks (not 186-B which is for the 185-A platform - 1930 AA157).

The longer upper radiator hose is 9-1/4" long as per page E-4 of the Judging Standards. I don't know where to get this. But, try calling Berts Model A Center at 800-321-1931.

Re: Cartouche Upholstery Kit 82B Cab

The height of the backrest is different between the 82-A and 82-B: A - 16-7/8" back and 18-3/4" front B - 17-3/4" back and 17-1/4" front The back measurement is with the edge crimped onto the skirt. Both seem to be the same depth. So, if you have A upholstery, it should most like...

Re: Cartouche Upholstery Kit 82B Cab

I checked out the 82-A and 82-B seat backrests and found that the 82-B backrest is about 1-3/4" wider than the 82-A. And, the individual springs look like they are heaver wire

Re: Cartouche Upholstery Kit 82B Cab

I don't know of anyone making correct covers. And, for someone to make correct covers, they would need to see an original so they can duplicate. Pictures might work. Plus, they would need to see the springs being used to insure that the skirt diameter ends up correct. I need to do this for my 82-A. ...

Re: Cartouche Upholstery Kit 82B Cab

Thank you for the pictures of the Cartouche upholstery seat covers for the 82-B. The information I have below is in regards to the 82-A cab. I have a seat back spring for an 82-B, it has the channel for the cover skirt. So, I am guessing the installation process is the same as for an 82-A. Note in m...

Re: Cartouche Upholstery Kit 82B Cab

I have not seen the kit. But, the original seat covers should have a cord sewn around the bottom or back of the covers. This cord fits into a channel in the springs and the channel is crimped arount the cord. The springs must be manually compressed while the covers are installed and the channel crim...

Re: Dual Transmission I.D.?

In the pictures showing the gears, it looks like the gears are off set from center. So, I am guessing that they would have meshed with planetary gears. The square shaft would most likely be Model T rather than A.

This is all just speculation!

Re: Body Blocks and rubber

The front body blocks on the 82-A (and all '28/'29 A's) is between the metal sills (painted black before installation. There is a rubber pad which goes under the metal sill and rests on top of the splash shield and body bracket. This block is a long, odd shape. The front body bolt and the two body t...

Pictures are worth a 1,000 words when it comes to identifying an AA. The cab, firewall, wheels (and there date if for '30/'31).
