Re: spindle on an A and AA
My January 29 never had the "service" work done to it. This worked out well as I was able to put the wire spoke wheels on him. Dave December 2010 http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h333/1crosscut/Model%20AA/DSC05672.jpg One year anniversary http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h333/1crossc...

Re: Got my AA home
Steve, congrats on your "new" truck. Luke is right in having you check your timing to see if that might be what is causing your knock. Hopefully you do have some shims left to take out if necessary otherwise things can get pricey in a hurry. Removing your gas tank is fairly straight forwar...

Re: Tie rod straight or not?
Just got done giving it a go on straightening mine out and it went really good. I had a couple of sort pieces of rail line rail and set the tie rod on those and used a hand sledge to work it straight. Have to be careful not to allow the ends to contact anything when hammering on it or it will mess u...

Re: What size bolt for the front spring?
Went out and compressed the spring today and realize that the 3 1/4" wasn't going to make it. I'll get the longer bolt and cut off the excess.

What size bolt for the front spring?
I need to replace the broken bolt that is for the center 16 leaf front spring on my 29. The one that was there is 5/16" in diameter. Since it was broke off I don't know how long it is supposed to be. Is 5/16" correct? It's a loose fit in the holes but 3/8" is too large. While I'm at i...

Re: Need to know how to route the speedometer cable.
Pat your right in that the copper line is for the oil pressure gauge that attaches to the bottom of the instrument panel. It certainly is a good feeling to be to the point of putting the pieces back together again.

Re: Need to know how to route the speedometer cable.
Here are the pictures of how I ended up routing my cable. Going through the hole in crossmember #2 is not correct but it seemed that by routing the cable under the crossmember it put a pretty tight bend in the cable just behind the clamp on the frame rail. Since I'm not going for a fine point truck ...

Re: Tie rod straight or not?
Thanks for the info.
I think I would rather find a good straight one instead of straightening in a bent one. I'll check with some of the local club members to see if I can find one close by.

Tie rod straight or not?
Ok, is the tie rod supposed to be straight or does it have a bend to it on the drivers side. Mine has a bend to it. If it came straight and it got bent they did a good job of it as it looks as if it is supposed to be that way.

Don
If if the drum turns you may just need to get the shoe to slide past the wear ridge on the inside of the drum. I ran the flame of my torch around and around and around (dizzy yet?) the drum to warm it up and make it expand. Worked well for me.

Need to know how to route the speedometer cable.
My 29 didn't have the speedometer cable when I got the truck. Ready to put one on now but I'm not sure on how it is routed. It still has the clamp for the cable on the right side of the frame just in front of the 3rd cross member. Any help would be appreciated.
