I have just removed the bolts from where the springs fasten to the axle, and then jack up the frame until it is clear of the springs. Be sure to use jack stands to support the frame and be careful.

I put high speed gears in my 31 and 40 is about tops, low gears not so doggy.

I think I would check the compression on each cylinder before I'd tear anything apart, just to make sure thats the issue
