Re: My AA1844760 June 1929

OK Steakbed, here goes.... The license plates I'm looking for are; Wis 30 - 31 D - 23341 Wis 31 - 32 D - 9747 The plates do not say 'truck' on them. Sometime in 1930 there was a change and truck license plates were issued in a 'fiscal year' format which would have went from a July to June cycle. Car...

Re: My AA1844760 June 1929

Continuing on with my last post...... This was a total shot in the dark for me to start searching thru the state records with only my serial number. If the truck had not been purchased new in Wisconsin, it would have been a complete waste of time for me, but then the thrill is in the hunt, right? I ...

Re: My AA1844760 June 1929

I have been very lucky finding a needle in a haystack in regards to tracing my 31 AA dump truck. I live in Wisconsin, and last year I found out that the Wisconsin State Historical Society has Wisc. Dept. of Motor Vehicle records for trucks from 1905 - 1948 and cars from 1905 up much farther. Maybe t...

Re: 31 AA dump truck

Greg, If you want to see a variety of dump bodies, plus other types of Model AA truck equipment, get a copy of the book 'Ford Model A/AA Truck Owner ' by A.G. McMillan. It's a hardcover book, about 280 pages with lots of pictures and information for these trucks when they were new. The book is on eb...

Re: License plates

In Wisconsin, the letters are to specify a weight class. The Wisconsin State Historical Society has the Wisc. Dept. of Motor Vehicle records for truck registration from 1905? to 1948, cars go much higher. I spent 10 hours going through records on microfilm with the serial number from my truck and wa...

Re: Merry Christmas

Couldn't have said it better myself, but personally I prefer to skip the PC lingo, and will simply reply, "A VERY MERRY AND BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO ALL" !

And a Happy New Year.

Re: Removing Rear End

I have just removed the bolts from where the springs fasten to the axle, and then jack up the frame until it is clear of the springs. Be sure to use jack stands to support the frame and be careful.

Re: Body Welting on a 1931 AA

The frame anti-squeak webbing runs along the top of the frame, from the front edge of the fender, to the rear of the running board splash shields. The fenders and running board splash shields are fastened on top of the webbing. At the front edge of the frame, the frame webbing is over the front edge...
