Re: WHAT'S UP WITH YOU ALL

IF YOU'D PAY ATTENTION PLEASE :The "Dual-High", with a more powerful engine would function similarly to how it originally did, only now the higher (direct) gear would be in front of a lower numericallly rear-end gear, & give highway-speed capability, reserving the lower(under)gear for ...

Re: WHAT'S UP WITH YOU ALL

Yes, Mitchell does make an O.O. for "AA", but I'd hoped there was a readily available bevel gear ring & pinion out there. There are other options to check out, such as a 3 spd Warford-style(under/direct/over), or something modern(4 or 5 spd with 'top' being O.D.) : I'm looking for some...

Re: WHAT'S UP WITH YOU ALL

Does anyone on here know of any bevel gear set in 4:11(or anywhere near?) available that will work in one of these original housings? If you do, please post sources & numbers here, as it would make our efforts to have streetable trucks a lot easier.

Re: WHAT'S UP WITH YOU ALL

Whoa now, Don't stop with the "worm" gears : how about a 4:11 ring/pinion for the bevel rear??? With our 20" tires we'd at least be "in the ballpark" for modern street use ; if we needed power, we've still got our "dual-high" underdrives to kick in!!

For tire prices check Summit's on-line catalog. They also have Firestone tires in several sizes, as well as tubes & liners

Re: 28 front brake drum

There is a '28 only ribbed drum that uses passenger spindles, kingpins, & bearings / There is also a '29 only smooth drum that uses it's own unique bearings & spindle, but also uses passenger kingpins / then in late '29 - early '30 the A-A/B-B spindle, bearing & kingpin seems to show-up &...

Fenders/bodywork

I'm asking this question because it seems that for almost any "A-A" question someone on this website can provide an accurate answer: "Does the radius of the AA rear fenders differ from the passenger A,(& by how much),& if so, does it also vary by year?" I've heard (as I'm...

Re: speed and the AA

I'm doing a '28 'A-A' as a daily driver, (better known as a 'survivor', or possibly as a '20-footer'), & I'm always looking for ideas/information, & especially: what problems were encountered, & how they were resolved. In that direction: What engine ( A or B) & what 'mods' to that en...
