Dispatch Pocket location?
Does anyone know where the metal device that hold papers in the cab is supposed to go?
I have heard it called a "dispatch pocket".
My pickup had it mounted in front of the passenger door on the inside. I recall someone saying it went on the inside rear of the cab on AA trucks.

Re: Dispatch Pocket location?
I believe passsenger kick panel is the correct position for a 82B cab.
The 82A had it on the side behind the driver about shoulder level..

Colemantrucks, When I got the truck I have there was some type of dispatch (?) plate on the inner
back panel. See attachment. Have not been able to find a thing about it. Jan. 1931 AA w/82B.

Attached is a drawing showing where the 82-B cab dispatch pocket should be located on the right cowl panel.

Re: Dispatch Pocket location?
This door pocket isn't original but it does the job for document storage. It helps with a place to keep the speeding tickets too.

colemantrucks:
When I got my unrestored early '31 AA Stakebed, the dipatch pocket was mounted at the same spot and in the same manner as the one in rollingsculpture's photo. My dispatch pocket was painted black.

Having never seen a 'dispatch pocket' I have to wonder if these are a factory item, or a sucsessfull accessory. Its the first that I have even heard of too.

Re: Dispatch Pocket location?
I agree with the other responses that say the dispatch pocket was standard in all 82-B cabs. While this is not proof that the pocket was in all 82-B cabs, it is interesting to note that in the August 1930 parts book, the left hand cowl cardboard assembly for the 82-B is part A-45271-F, the same piece as used on several other body styles.
The right hand piece is A-82270 is named "Cardboard (cowl) and dispatch box assy.-R.H." and is unique to the 82-B body. The plain (no pocket) cardboard cowl piece for the right hand side A-45270-F is used on many bodies, but not the 82-B.
