Budd wheel offset?s
Budd wheel offset?s
Ive been trying to figure out what the offset (modern day definition of distance between mounting surface and centerline of rim) of the later 1931 AA dual wheels was. Searching over the forum I've found 3 inches, 4 inches, and 7.5 inches. None off those measurements are making any sense to me.
Am I measuring wrong, did they use a different definition for offset back in the day?

Re: Budd wheel offset?s
i think some people may be confusing Offset with backspacing...
id measure and give my best guess but i have no rims of that style to measure...
im just curious but why the question? if you find something modern that fits lemme know haha i need 2 bare rims or anything to roll a chassis with.

Re: Budd wheel offset?s
I'm trying to go to a modern front end. I have an F450 solid front axle that is looking like it might be a decent candidate. The lug bolt pattern is different but I'm gonna get moDern wheels From rickson wheel manufacturing. They are 19.5 inch by 6 inch wheels with 5.35 inches of offset, but you can order pretty much any offset you want though. I'm trying to get them as close to the look of the original AA wheels as possible. I have already sold the wheels to a guy here locally (I had a phone mishap and no longer have his info to see how his project is going) and forgot to measure up the offset and back spacing. All I have is some pictures of my original rims with a tape measure, before I even really knew how to measure offset, and they aren't helping at all.

I may be able to get you some measurements, but it will probably take a couple days.

I just brought home a 1930 truck with 6 wheels, I'll check the dates and if any are late I will measure them up for you.Reds34 wrote:I may be able to get you some measurements, but it will probably take a couple days.

Re: Budd wheel offset?s
Thanks guys,
The axle I have right now is 74" WMS to WMS.
Before I dismantled my original front end I put it at 63.5-64" WMS to WMS. I think i might have to take out a few inches from the new axle.

Rumored to be an Early '30 AA...

Do you mean as opposed to a 5 slot?
I got these off the forum a few years ago. I searched and searched just now and couldn't find the thread.
They are 6 slot
I think they are 10-29 as stamped but who knows?

Or does anyone have the 1931 January service bulletin? I think my answer is in that publication.
