Emergency brake lining
Emergency brake lining
Does anyone know the thickness of emergency brake lining for a late 29 early 30 AA duel wheel . We replaced the linings on our truck now drums will not fit past them . The linings we got are 1/4 inch X 1 1/2
Re: Emergency brake lining
MAC has them at 3/16 which will work great , just ordered them . Brattons had them at 1/4 .

I would just sand them down as well to match the drum. I use a belt sander but you may have more control with an orbital.

Perhaps take the shoes and the drums to a local brake shop and have the shoes arched to match your drums.

It's really hard these days to find a shop that has a rearcher and how to use one. I swear if I find one the works I would buy it.

I think he means Re-archer.
Lincoln Clutch and Brake here in Lincoln has the machine to arch (sand) shoes to match drums. Fortunately my brother Steve is the lead machinist there and has done all my brakes and such for years.

Yea we have Mutual Wheel Co here, they reline semi brake shoes and can grind them down to fit. The have all the old books back to 1934 for trucks and what brake material, rivet size, lining size, etc.

Re: Emergency brake lining
According to my brake lining data book, the original size for the emergency brake lining is 1 1/2" wide and .172/.182 thick.
