28/29 bevel gear high speed value
I have 28/29 high speed bevel gear (not the 30/31) complete with torque tube and speedometer gear. It is free and has good oil with no water. Just wondering if the rarity of these in high speed makes them more valuable.

Re: 28/29 bevel gear high speed value
Based on my research, the bevel gear rear axle shown below was only released for a short time in early 1929 and came with emergency brakes. I have not seen any information as to why Ford stopped production - my guess is cost was too high (but I don't know). I would think this high-speed axle would be worth as much as a high-speed worm axle. But, it would only be original for AA's in the early 1929 time period. The only way to verify the gears are good is disassembly.

Re: 28/29 bevel gear high speed value
I would love to take this apart but I am worried about being able to get gaskets to put it back together. It came out of what appears to be a early 1929 truck. Is there any parts lists for this rear end?

There is a section in the parts book for this axle.

Re: 28/29 bevel gear high speed value
One bad feature of these early style bevel gear rears is that the pinion shaft and gear is made as part of the drive shaft assembly. They did not use the splined coupling to attach the pinion shaft to the driveshaft. The torque tube is a different length also.
