1st ? What parts are what

Post by smilebigtt »

A 1930 AA. I understand the body sheet metal (hood, fenders, cab, seat springs, radiator
shell etc..) are all Model A pickup. The engine, tranny, and radiator is Model A car/pickup. The frame, the front axle, rear axle, driveshaft and tube and all brakes are Model AA. Please inform if this is not correct.

smilebigtt,
Through about June of 1930, Ford continued to use 1929 sheet metal on all commercial vehicles (A and AA). So, for these 1930 months, the radiator and shell is the corresponding A parts. After about June, the radiator and shell is unique to the AA.

The cabs, hoods, front fenders, radiator splash apron, head lights and bar are the same for the commercial A/AA's. And, all of these parts, except the cabs and radiator shell, are also the same as non commercial A vehicles.

The engine is the same for all A/AA's. For '30/'31, the transmission is a 4-speed and unique to the AA. The remainder of the 1930 AA chassis is unique to the AA.
