Something missing?

Post by smilebigtt »

I don't have a photo right at the moment to show you but here's my question. On the rider side of the engine, back side of the timing front cover there is a round plate about 3 inches in dia. This plate is held on to the front cover by I'm thinking six screws. Did something go there?

A picture would help but if I am reading your description right it sounds like an aftermarket timing gear side cover with provisions for mounting a governor.

The second photo, what is it? Its pot metal, a wire coming out of the center, looks like it is a lid to something. I don't know where it came off.

The plate with the wire coming out of it is a distributor cap top. Surely it is bakelite or some similar insulating material instead of pot metal.

The other pic looks like a place to mount a governor or some other gear driven acessory.
