King pins

Post by Robert Gray » January 23rd, 2009, 9:18 am

When installing new bushings and kingpins in an AA what size reamer should be used on the bushings? The A calls for .812 but aren't the AA pins larger than the A?

I would start by measuring both pins top and bottom. They may be slightly different from one another. That would give you an idea of where abouts it should be. My guess is the bushing gets reamed .001-.002 larger than the pin. I am not a machinist so I suggest you get with someone more expertified.

Does anyone have actual reamer size for 30-31 aa truck. There are several on eBay that reference -
986 Pilot

1.006 Cut

1.003 Relief

11.75 long to square tip.

I would take them to a machine shop and have them done on a Sunnen Hone.

Not really interested in taking them to a machine shop. Still looking for information on the size!

Yup! 1.004" pin + .002" clearance = 1.006" reamer.. There you figured it out!!
