The Picture attached to the topic "open coupling shaft" reminded me of how innovative some of the shade tree repairs on these srturdy beasts are.
In that picture you can see that the tower cap is spot welded to the tower and there is no sign of the stock pins.
I wish I had pictures of all the rube goldberg repairs my rig had !!
The attached picture is of a emergency brake carrier plate...no such thing as running to NAPA for a replacement piece!! braze it back together!!!
The second pic is of a container of brake operating pin shims...if someone collects old containers just ask and you can add it to your collection. It is almost full of the connecting shims...they look a little heavier than the ones from current vendors
Dont worry about fixing it, just make it work.!!!
