I love all the statements and the replies, along with the great pictures it makes for interesting reading along with a few chuckles. Are we talking oversize hole = fudge factor?

Fudge factor is precisely what it is Shorthaul. Note the additonal fudging evident in the picture below. The top outside (left) edge of the stud has been ground off at an angle. I can tell you from experience that if it weren't for that little bit of "additional machining", you'd never be able to get the stud through the hole in the spring perch. Even then it took a little bit of "convincing" to get it through.Shorthaul wrote:I love all the statements and the replies, along with the great pictures it makes for interesting reading along with a few chuckles. Thanks for the good words there Russ. I'm certain your truck is going to turn out great!russ wrote:Hey Matt, this isn't the first time i've noticed how much you enjoyed building your truck. It's your idea of a thing of beauty, and coincidentally...mine too. Not likely mine will ever look similar to yours, but it'll be a great driver all the same.
Did you do your own plating? I recall seeing years ago, photos of an elaborate setup of multiple plating stations. Was that yours? Regardless, great truck you have there.
Now the why. I've always liked how a new tractor or high-end mower looked, so I decided to incorporate that look into my truck via the exposed bright zinc and yellow-chromate plating.
My plating setup isn't very elaborate. I discussed it a while back in this thread:
