#4 crossmember
#4 crossmember
Why was the #4 crossmember humped in the early AA's? Was it a leftover TT item which may have had a spring init? Was it to clear the driveshaft under heavy loads? Any one know? Den

You got it Den. It was to clear the high-ridin' worn drive arrangement.

The worm gear rear end had the driveshaft mounted high. The hump in the crossmember was to clear the driveshaft.
