Ign. points problem

Post by SHELBY MESSER »

Anyone had a problem getting the ign. points to fire a spark after cleaning points (we always call this filing the points). Anyway, the points are firing but not Good enough to start your engine. Here is a simple remedy that's helpful, everyone can afford. Go back where the problem is by removing the distributor cover and cap. (Everything should be set now timing, point gap Right). Turn engine 'til the points are closed, with Ign. switch off. Take a $1.00 bill and pass it through the points contacts about 10 time, maybe more. (It's still $1.00 no tax). Turn on Ign. switch check your fire power. If a good spark is noted, replace the Dis. cap and cover. Should start! This should work every time! Good luck! Shelby, Louisiana.
