White Steering Wheel

How did the steering wheel get to be white? Was the black one painted? Do you know if the steering wheel is made from soybean or from bakelite?

When do you suppose the black& white photo was taken? It's nice to be able to view the two pictures.

It's a bakelite wheel, i painted it as the wheel needed a bit of tlc!
