Wheel nuts
I need 2 right hand thread lug nuts to secure the spare wheel; will the 30-31 wheel nuts fit the studs on a 29 wheel carrier?.

Re: Wheel nuts
The 30-31 nuts will fit on the 28-29 studs, but they won't fit on the wheels right.

Re: Wheel nuts
Thanks Red,
I want to use the later front wheel nuts until I find 2 of the acorn type , I do have another question , here is a picture of the carrier posted by Neil Wilson, it appears there are 2 spaces on the studs, were these original or as somebody added them?.

Re: Wheel nuts
I would guess that they are original to space the wheel off the hanger so the wheel doesn't crack when you tighten it down?

Re: Wheel nuts
The spacers on the studs are for the '29 AA wheel. Without the spacers, the '29 AA wheel outer rim hits the straps. The '28 wheel carrier (starting mid '28) does not have the spacers. The two carriers are basically the same otherwise. The picture shows the later '29 carrier which has a different designed strap end than the mid '28 and early '29 carrier strap assemblies.
Regards, Neil Wilson

Re: Wheel nuts
That answers why I saw the 2 wear marks on the carrier, and also with the spacers in place the wheel will go all the way up to the stop brackets.
Thanks again.
