Hazard a guess on this AA Chassis #???

Post by spectria »

Anybody want to try and guess the Number?
Truck frame from My Mail Truck chassis, supposed to be completed with Mail Truck Body in 1932 as part of the US Postal Service contract from 1931. My Pink slip says it's a 1932. It is definitely a 1931 AA.

I see the first 2 AA's 4, 4, 4, ?, 5, 3, ?

Those of you who understand the numbering system probably know what is possible and not, so I am asking for help.

Ca DMV is giving me grief on the ID!

you might try photographing with raking light from the side . no flash , it will cut down on the reflection. i think the numbers missing are a 0 and a 7 and the 5 looks like it could be a 6 . so my guess is aa 4440637

JUST NOTICED THE" 3" is not flat on the top so it must actually be an 8 still think the "5" is a 6 though only because i dont see the flat for the top of the five and the late 6s were a line going up no curve to the top
so i revise my guess to be 4440687

444 would be March '31. If it is the original chassis I think it would be closer to
482XXXX through 484XXXX.

Thank you All, I'll Give it a little more time for a few more guesses/votes and maybe Neil will weigh in, and I'll try again with a better camera and remove the primer.

the green and black pic above seemed to show more and im gona vote also on the AA4440537. i had an issue on my frame with a 5 or 6 also. i cleaned it with oven cleaner and a wire brush several times and then rinsed it off with water. with water still standing on top of the numbers, they seemed to "pop out" a lot more

Perhaps freshen up the numbers a little with the reproduction stamps that are made for restoring rusted out numbers.

I have the Stamps Chris, and I plan to do as you suggest as soon as I am sure what the numbers are, which I am much closer to now than I was 2 days ago...

It's funny what you can start to see when people make suggestions... I think 6 heads are better than one.

BTW wish me Happy B-Day, Flag Day!!!

Which number would be good? Non of them seem similar to the Frame #

I have registered maybe 250 vehicles here in Ca over the last 42 years, and this is the oldest with the least info.
