I had a replacement engine in my '30 pick-up that had a
DMV issued number on the engine like that.
I don't see were the pink slip says it's a 32
. I see year sold '31.

Yea, I'm hoping they will do that now, as in 1956. The lady on the DMV phone said I would need a confirmed ID, they would do it at the DMV, but they needed to see the number, there-in lies the problem.Chris Haynes wrote:DMV7255 is a CA state assigned number. Given when number can't be found
I also discussed not giving them the original paperwork I have, and she said they probably wouldn't let me keep my pink.
I have my ways, though, so we'll see.

I am familiar with this particular version of California Title, the new view below may help.Bob C wrote:I had a replacement engine in my '30 pick-up that had a

The Type Vehicle is the yr. designation, mainly because of when it was completed and registered.
It was first transferred to the buyer in '31, hence yr. first sold. This was a Mail truck, Chassis bought in bulk from Ford by USPS, then delivered to the body builders, who completed mine in 1932, according to the history I got from the previous owner, who passed away last month...
The one thing I haven't done is check the Engine #, I will do that on Tuesday, and post the result. If it matches the Title, I may be good!!!
Q) Since I have a Plate # from the title, does anyone know if the number looks like a number that might have been assigned in 1931-2 or whenever California first assigned License Numbers?
Q) Anyone know of a plate manufacturer who punches out plates (Besides the Dept of Corrections!)?

Dave, I do not think the type vehicle has anything to do with
the year. My '31 flat bed is a type 32F and I have a '48 pick-up
that is a type 32P.

Pluck,
I inverted the colors and came up with all the same except for the last digit which I think is a 3 or 8 since it appears the is some curvature to the last digit.

Can you see the 9? Clearly a small circle upper half, and the tail doesn't complete.spectria wrote:rollingsculpture wrote:thats a cool old mystery solved! congrats on getting the title
