Bearing Race Removal
If anyone has ever a roller bearing to come apart leaving the outer race behind, sometimes they are very hard to remove(right). It works on taper outer races also. Most of us has an electric welder of some sort, hopefully knows how to use one, or knows someone that does. Anyway for those of us that can us a welding machine, or welder. Attach the ground lead to the project only so that you have no welding arc will not go through any other bearings in your project. Use any welding rod on hand (6011 or a 1109) will work fine! Make a weld on the race center (or about) about 1" long, being very careful not to weld the race to the housing which it is mounted. At this point the race should fall out of hub or what ever you are working on if you turn in over or will very easy to pull out. Hope this will help those whom ever needs the help!!!! Oh by the way if anyone is wondering what a 1109 welding rod is, It is a 6011 in the wrong hand!!!! Shelby, away in Sacramento
