Cadmium paint color

Post by flatford39 »

I am in the process of getting my AA wire wheels ready for paint and have been searching around for something close to cadmium plating but can only find metallic colors. What have you guys done??? I am talking about painting the split ring only. Sorry can't afford to go thru the cadmium process on these rings.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

My grandfather and father used aluminum paint on bumpers, lugnuts and split rings. Obviously isn't original, but doesn't look too bad.

Hi flatford...if you can afford it, you might check with your local powder coating companies. It not only looks good, it's durable. I had my split rings done on my AA to look like chrome, but it came out looking like shinny cadmium (sort of). :o

I used Rustoleum aluminum brush on with Rusty Metal primer.. It looks OK, but it is just a driver. Still have to do the center caps and lugnuts.

That doesn't look bad at all. I will have to look into it. Thanks.
