Bell housings

Post by NY AA MARK »

Does anyone know the differances between a car and a truck bell housing?
Big question is will a car bell housing work in a truck (1930 AA 1 1/2 ton),
and if not why? thanks mark.

Mark,
The clutch housing for the 4-speed transmission is about 1-1/8" shorter than the clutch housing for the 3-speed transmission. The '28 and most '29 AA's came with the 3-speed transmission and therefore used the corresponding Model A clutch housing.

If you want to use the Model A clutch housing in your '30/'31 AA, then you need to use the three speed transmission, '28/'29 AA coupling shaft, and late '29 AA u-joint.
