Looking for photo - hauler with A/AA's "Boulder Dam" banner?
I received a request from MAFCA newsletter editor James A. Spawn.
He is looking for a 1930/1931 photo of a hauler loaded with A/AA's and a banner saying they were headed to Boulder Dam.
Anyone know where this photo is??????????

Re: Looking for photo - hauler with A/AA's "Boulder Dam" banner?
At one time I had a picture of a group of AA trucks that were being used at Boulder dam and I have looked high and low for it, but, can't find it. My 31 truck was used for one year at Boulder Dam and parked when the v8 model came out, I think in 32.
Still looking.

The owner of this AA claims it was used on the dam project.

The photo in question is on www.loc.gov/pictures. Search for HAER CAL,19-LONGB,2-A-94. There are 126 photos of the Ford Long Beach plant and this is #94. The banner reads Hoover not Boulder. The URL is the Library of Congress and the HAER is the Historic American Engineering Record. The truck is a AA157. Sincerely, Ed Hayslip

Thanks for the link to the ford plant in Long Beach, Ca. I drove past the place a lot going to Terminal Island back in the early 50s when it was still going strong. Never realized it was so big.Hayslip wrote:The photo in question is on http://www.loc.gov/pictures. Search for HAER CAL,19-LONGB,2-A-94. Added a picture taken in 1930 at the plant. Sailing Schooners shows how times have changed.

Shorthaul,
Where did the photo of the Ford plant come from. I would like to see about getting a high resolution version of it.

It came from the "Hayslip" link. When you get on that site, copy and paste this onto the search option ( HAER CAL,19-LONGB,2-A-94. )
Then click on the Beach Beach ford plant, then click on the camera icon for photos. There are a lot of photos, just keep moving down through the groups. If you open one up, just click the back arrow, don't close the link or you will have to start over.

FYI - the direct link to this URL is as follows:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/displayPh ... g&topLinks
When a image is found there is a large format to click on "Highest resolution image (TIFF - 19524K bytes)". This image can be downloaded to your computer to use as desired. I zoomed in to 100% but can still not id any of the vehicles.

Hoover and Bolder Dam are the same place.
