I have found a salvage yard that has several '28-'29 rear axle assemblies with the worm drive differentials. Are they any significance anymore.

AA Worm Drives
Mike,
Yes, the worm drives are significant. The 28/29 AA's had them.
They are more desirable if they have the high speed gears.
The ratio would be 5.17:1
If the gears have not been swapped out, you can identify the high speed rear axles by the letter B stamped on the housing on the driver's side.
The corresponding speedometer gears(drive gear and driven gear) would also be desirable.
Folks with AA's and a low speed gear set may be looking to upgrade for more top end speed.
I'm sure that the bearings and internal parts may be worth saving too.
