I put in enough oil to just start running out the filler hole. I think some books say it takes a pint and a half but I don't measure it, just add till it's "full".

What are you using for "600" wt and where did you get it? I used to buy gear oil from Warshawski's back in the 1970's and it was about the consistency of tar, way thicker than even lubriplate #8 just curious.

Most all "A" parts suppliers have 600w oil for sale. It isn't really 600 weight like you usually think of gear oil. It's closer to 140 weight. They just call it 600w. I read once how they got to that number but I've forgotten.

OK, still another brain fart  When I overhauled my 4 speed, I filled the box to the bottem of the fill plug, while I had the top off. I had ever intention of writing down the capacity in my AA book for just this moment. If I did, I sure can't find it. To the best of my recollection it took 2 and 1/2 qts. Does that sound right? I used the oil sold by Brattons. Hope this helps. Bill James

2 1/2 Qt sounds better , but i dont think that will get it to the top of the filler plug, thank you for your help.
