1930 AA with turntable side dump - pictures added

Post by Mishfarms »

I hope this is the right site to get some information on our old AA. My dad has had the truck since the 1960's and it has always been stored in a barn or shed. The truck does run, but we haven't started it in about 5 years.

We had a conversation the other day about the future of the truck, so I told my dad I would try to find out a little more info if possible. What I think makes the truck unique is the turntable or swivel dump bed. The bed turns 90 degrees and dumps to the side of the truck. The bed has rusted away, but turntable is still intact and mechanically sound. In my brief internet search, I can't find a picture or any information on that type of dumping system.

This is my first time on this site and I hope some experts can shed some light about our old truck.

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome Dave, you came to the right place. Your truck sounds like it could have been used to dump stone in a trench, as in pipeline or highway construction. Pictures would be great.

Is this what you have??? It's the one on the right.

I found this picture in A.G. McMillan's "Model a/AA Truck Owner"

Well I guess this is the right site for information because that is the exact dump body. It does have a tag from Lawrence Bruder still on it. I'll try to post some pictures in the next few days. Do you think that dump system adds some value to the truck?

The one in the book is the only one I have ever seen. I am sure others will chime in over the next few days. Where are you located??

Nice looking cab you have there. Dpesn't appear to have gotten to beat up by the dump mechanism.

Thank you for the photos.

You can find very nice used versions of that book on Ebay at times. I paid under $10.00 for my copy. It is a really good reference book for all the accessories and more.
