Found N Fixed Backfiring Prob

Post by captain marty »

This truck has never backfired on me and I have never had to adjust the points or timing in the 15 years I’ve had it. I did remove the carb and cleaned. I checked that all intake nuts were tight. I was getting ready to change the condenser and discovered I had no point gap to speak of. I gapped the thing and now have no more backfire. Went for a 15 mile drive. It was great.

I had same problem on my 29 Tudor, the repro points rubbing block would wear down quickly. I replaced the points with the modern type mod kit. Mac.........

Once again, 90% of all carburator problems are electrical in nature. :D

Thanks for posting the solution to the problem, most of the time all I read about is the problem and a number of reasons why. ?
