I have a 1931 AA stake body. Does anyone have a diagram on where the body welting goes and how to install it?

I think the best information on placement of the welting is in the judging standards

I was always told that it goes every where it is metal to metal on the frame.

I have a 32bb which is almost the same. I was informed that the welting went only where the fenders bolted to the frame.

It was years ago, that I disassembled my early 1931 long wheel base stakebed. I don't recall if there was any welting under the cab or not. But, I do remember that there wasn't any welting between the top of the frame and the wooden bed rails. Hope this helps some.

The frame anti-squeak webbing runs along the top of the frame, from the front edge of the fender, to the rear of the running board splash shields. The fenders and running board splash shields are fastened on top of the webbing. At the front edge of the frame, the frame webbing is over the front edge of the radiator splash shield and the front edge of the fender sits on top of it. Front fender welting goes between the front fender and the running board splash shields where they bolt together. Fender welting is left its natural black color. Cowl welting is placed between the fuel tank and the cowl, from the front edge of the cowl, around below the windshield, to the other front edge of the cowl. Cowl welting is a smaller diameter welting than fender welting. Cowl welting is painted lower body color. There is also a strip of cowl welting between the steel header panel and the visor, this is painted upper body color.

I was using the term welting, when I meant webbing. Stew........you're the Man on this topic!

Note that the frame welt is an anti-squeak material for sheet metal bolted to the frame. On the AA, this includes the front fenders and a portion of the splash apron. In the attached pictures, I have extended the webbing enough to just past the cab-to-frame bracket. I also put webbing on this bracket as well as the hood shelf bracket.

While this is for a '30 AA, the '31 AA would be similar.

Sonny, I have heard the same thing about the 32 webbing. Even though our 32's are close to 31's we don't have the running board splash aprons, or a cowl mounted fuel tank.
