1929 wheels
1929 wheels
purchaced an awesome 1929 aa staketruck, needs some paint touch up, and new rubber. My question is on the color of the rims, family I purchaced it from swears that the red color is original, but I can't find any online that have that color. Do I leave them red, or go with the standard black? Any info greatly appreciated!

Re: 1929 wheels
Off the assembly line the AA wheels were black. Some "commercial concerns" could order their trucks as they wanted them including chassis.
The wheel nuts, hub caps, and lock rings were cadmium plated.

Brooke, welcome to the forum. It sounds pretty interesting, but we love the full story & lots of pictures.

Re: 1929 wheels
Thanks guys! I think the black will look better love my truck, but to me the green wheels look like someone was trying to copy a john deere tractor. Will post pic when I get one small enough that the site will accept. This is my first adventure into antique vehicles ever so will be back soon with some questions that will probably leave you chuckling

Looks like your truck might actually be an early 1930 (with Budd wheels). Should be a fun truck!
