Restoration project ford model AA
Hy guys
I recently bought an 1931 Ford model AA at an auction. The vehicle is in a very, very poor state and we have a lot of work to do. I have a body shop so i hope it will not be very difficult, but this is the first time i restore a car so a decided to ask for some advice from people with more experience. The car caught fire from the engine, but from what i can tell only the cabine has been affected. i will recieve the car in a few days. I will add the pictures so you guys can take a look. Any advice is very welcome and online sites from where i can buy parts, but these sites must deliver outside the US, because i am from europe, romania.
I couldn't upload the pictures here so i will add a link to my picassa album.

Here are some of the Model A/AA vendor's websites:
http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/modelaparts
http://macsautoparts.com/
http://www.brattons.com/Default.asp?cookiecheck=yes&
http://modelastore.com/ (they also have a lot of original parts)
I think most of them ship internationally.
I wish you luck with your truck!

Thank you very much for the sites. Also, is there a way a can find what was the original paint colour or any other information about the way it looked when it came out of the factory? because i want to restore it as close to original as possibile.

Welcome to the site. There is a ton of information here. I am not able to see your pictures for some reason but you state that the truck was in a fire. Depending how intense the heat from the fire was may have serious implications in trying to do body work in a conventional manner but since you say that you own a body shop I suspect you know this. Good luck with your truck and we all hope to see some pictures of it.

Re: Restoration project ford model AA
Thanks....It looks like alot of the sheetmetal was exposed to the fire. The question is how intense and how long and that can only be seen up close and personal. Fire will warp the sheetmetal pretty severely and it takes alot of shrinking etc. to get it back if you can at all.
I would guess that this one is salvageable as it appears the fire didn't spread beyond the cab making me think it was extinguished rather quickly.

I would say to a good cleaning, paint every thing that has burn rust or heat damage with a cheap paint to keep the moister away form the metal. Metal will still rust with the moister in a building This will keep the metal from rusting farther until you have time to do it correctly!! Shelby, Louisiana.

Most all 1928-1931 AA Cab and Hoods were painted Rockmoss Green. The radiator shell, fenders, splash aprons and running boards were black.

Chris, Your AA roadster pick up is very sexy and very desirable to anyone who appreciates the AA trucks. In time, the burned out AA could look almost as nice.

Re: Restoration project ford model AA
what does GR 10000 mean? it's written on the side of the truck.
Also, in the other picture, what are items no. 1 and no.2?

1. looks like a base for an oil filter attachment, and 2. is where the junction box goes.
