Original Rubber Floor Mat for 1930/31 AA 82B Cab

Does anyone have a photo of an original rubber floor mat that Ford used in their AA trucks for the 1930/31 82B cabs? I know you can purchase the generic one for the 82B A cab. Was there a specific mat used in the AA's or did they modify the ones used in the A's like we have to do today?

The January 1931 (page 534) Ford Service Bulletins shows the AA floor mat used with the 4-speed transmission.

Hi Neil,

If I am correct, it looks like they used the same mat for both cabs, and cut the hole bigger for the AA shifter tower (and accessories), right?

That is basically what I have been doing over the years. I have never read anywhere of a separate mat for the 82B AA's, so I just wanted to be sure.

The original floor mat for the AA with a 4-speed was an AA part number as shown in the referenced Service Bulletin. There is no reproduction floor mat being made for the AA with 4-speed.

The shift tower for the 4-speed is about 5/16" forward of where the 3-speed tower is. A reproduction A floor mat needs to be cut to allow it to fit. But, this will leave a 5/16" gap on the back side of the 4-speed tower.

I talked with Snyder's about a year ago to see if they had considered making a correct AA mat. The answer was no due to the $10k upfront cost of making the mold. There is just not enough of a market to cover the cost.

And, I just read in the Ford Bulletin for June 1931 (page 569) that they came out with one generic mat for service replacement to eliminate the need to carry different replacement mats for the various years and models. They show the dotted lines where to cut out for the different models as needed and suggest using the old mat as a template. Makes sense.

Too bad about Snyder's and the high cost to re-create the mold for the correct mat!
